The Environment Agency is a non-departmental public body, first established in 1996. It is responsible for the protection and enhancement of the environment in England. It is affiliated with the government department DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).
The Environment Agency were relying on an outdated system that could produce inaccurate data collection and data duplication. They also faced issues with user acceptance (both at field operative and management level), technical challenges (i.e. poor connectivity) and equipment failure (tough conditions could break devices).
Peak-Ryzex implemented Intermec devices into the Environment Agency along with managed mobility services that provided the set up and staging of hardware and software, as well as an NWDE service. Peak-Ryzex also took on the responsibility of managing the Environment Agency’s complete device inventory. Regular reporting was also provided to help the Environment Agency with internal decision making.
The solution implemented was fast and accurate, eliminated the need for paper-based procedures and helped ensure there was no duplication of data. Ultimately, the solution boosted productivity and efficiency, enabling service improvements. User acceptance was made easier due to reporting and analytics provided by Peak-Ryzex as this gave empirical evidence to support the solution.
