rascal systems was formed in 2004 to simplify and improve retail stock management of newspaper and magazine products. They are jointly owned by Smiths News and work with such retailers as Sainsbury’s, Tesco & Morrisons.
In the past, many retailers had to physically count newspapers and magazines stock, or trust that the amount of stock was correct without checking. As a result, they could end up paying for more publications than they actually received, and a reliance on manual, paper-based stock checking proved inefficient. Also, they often missed return dates, meaning they didn’t get credited for unsold products.
Peak-Ryzex provided rascal systems with Motorola devices and a managed services to cover the supply, software configuration and support of this estate. Repair and Next Working Day Exchange services were also provided as part of the contract, minimising device downtime. Further, weekly reports and audit trails for all of the devices are supplied.
Peak-Ryzex managed mobility services ended up saving rascal’s retail clients a lot of time and money year on year, gave them control by making their newspaper and magazine sections simple to manage and enabled total supply chain visibility.
